Our mission is to meet a wide range of client needs with responsibility, vision, and integrity. We have built a solid foundation in the industry with the strength of our outstanding expertise and information capabilities to meet those needs.
Toyota Tsusho Metals Japan Co., Ltd. was established in January 2013 with the purpose of mediating futures transactions handled by Toyota Tsusho Metals Limited, a UK-based commodity futures brokerage company wholly owned by Toyota Tsusho Corporation (London Metal Exchange Category 2 Member), for our customers in Japan. In April 2021, we changed our company name to Toyota Tsusho Metals Japan Co., Ltd.
In recent years, the global economy has been at a turning point amidst major trends such as increasing geopolitical uncertainties, ongoing inflationary pressures, and the transition to a decarbonized society. Resource prices, in particular, have shown unprecedented volatility due to factors such as the Russia-Ukraine situation, tensions in the Middle East, and the US-China conflict, making it extremely difficult to predict procurement and sales prices in corporate activities. Additionally, the energy transition and the expansion of the electric vehicle (EV) market have increased the demand for strategic metals such as nickel, cobalt, and lithium, while supply risks have also risen due to resource nationalism. In this context, we believe that the role of the derivatives market as a means of appropriately managing price fluctuation risks will become increasingly important.
Our mission is to meet the expectations of our customers and contribute to the stabilization and development of their business activities by providing highly specialized information and proposing risk hedging methods in response to the increasingly complex market environment.
Currently, our main focus is on trading precious metals over-the-counter derivatives, in addition to products listed on the London Metal Exchange. However, we will gradually expand our brokerage services to include next-generation materials such as iron scrap and lithium.
We sincerely appreciate your continued guidance and support.
